Building code requires exhaust vents and air intakes to include pest protection. While screens are acceptable for many applications, they are specifically prohibited on dryer vents, so alternative solutions must be used to ensure both pest prevention and code compliance.
Unfortunately, pest protection is often missing, deteriorated, or ineffective—creating safety and efficiency issues. Plastic
While plastic isn’t our preferred material, improved models are now available that better resist heat and UV degradation.

Some vent setups—especially kitchen or larger-sized exhausts—require custom-fabricated screening. We can fabricate and install those to precisely fit your system.
Termination Covers
No matter how new or high-end your home, vent and intake terminations are persistently overlooked. Builders install cheap covers that look unattractive, weather poorly, and fail prematurely—quickly becoming both an eyesore and a liability. We offer upgraded termination solutions that combine performance and durability with clean aesthetics and straightforward installation.
These covers can be all over your home—through the roof, on a wall, under a soffit or overhang…and sometimes they never even installed the vent to the exterior. No matter the location, or how difficult it is to locate, we adapt these products to integrate seamlessly with your home.
Wall
Our wall termination covers feature a streamlined, single-damper design. Constructed from heavy-duty Galvalume® steel and finished with a durable powder coat, they offer long-lasting protection with a range of color options. The recessed damper and built-in magnets minimizes wind rattle and helps deter pest intrusion, while the integrated collar ensures a secure connection to the ductwork.
Soffit
While high-quality powder-coated metal soffit covers aren’t yet available on the market, we offer a durable plastic option that stands above the rest. Its curved hood directs airflow away from the soffit to reduce recirculation, and the UV-stabilized, one-piece design eliminates leaky seams and resists degradation over time. Given the current product landscape, this is the most reliable and effective option available for soffit terminations.
Roof
Most roof covers are designed for kitchen and bath vents and are poorly suited for dryer exhausts. While we use high-quality models for these other exhausts, we install a specific model for dryer vents that’s engineered for code compliance, serviceability, and airflow. And don’t forget that our terminations installations are backed by our Workmanship Warranty for added peace of mind.
Laundry Room
You may want to make some improvements to your laundry room—perhaps for organization or aesthetics—but what about improving the mechanical aspects that help appliances run safely and efficiently? There are some products to be aware of that fall into this category.
Transition Duct
- Transition ducts must be safe, code-compliant and observant to dryer manufacturer requirements—but they also must be durable, serviceable, and flexible enough to allow for the tight connections required in most laundry rooms.
- Our transition ducts get their flexibility, strength, and fire-resistance with 5 layers of 25 micron 100% aluminum ribbon, attached over galvanized zinc-coated wire. The application method for the aluminum ribbon ensures a consistent 4” inner diameter, whether it is fully extended or fully compressed. For fire resistance performance, our transition duct was lab tested to 662 degrees Fahrenheit without flame or smoke development. The heavy application of aluminum ribbon combined with the resilient strength of galvanized zinc-coated wire helps it bounce back from heavy object impacts and makes it highly puncture-resistant.
Magnetic Vent Connector
- Magnetic vent connectors help you create space in your laundry room and make accessing behind your dryer much easier. They have powerful self-aligning magnets to ensure a strong, hands-free connection. While these are not the solution for every situation, they are an absolute game-changer for certain laundry room setups. Wall Box
- A wall box is a receptacle that gives space for your transition duct to tuck into the wall, and therefore allows your dryer to push further back—gaining room in your laundry area. This is a real positive, because every inch counts when it comes to allowing doors to open and having space to step around baskets of laundry. A lesser recognized feature is that wall boxes—rightly executed—create substantially more efficient ductwork by eliminating turns that penalize how well the airstream can move to the exterior.
- Our wall boxes are constructed of 22 gauge deep-drawn alumnized steel and can be installed in an upward or downward configuration to best suit your space. Alignment is everything for these to function effectively, so ensure you ask your technician to evaluate if a wall box will work in your laundry room.
Washer Hoses
- Washer hoses that connect from the wall to the washing machine are temporary plumbing connections. They should be replaced periodically according to manufacturer directions—typically every two to three years for rubber hoses and every three to five years for braided stainless steel ones—to mitigate the risk of flooding. The abrupt water shut off from the washing machine creates a hammer effect that weakens the flexible hose and can rupture unto catastrophic consequences. These washer hoses are also installed to certain dryers, increasing the risk and need for maintenance.
Strain Relief Clamp
- The dryer’s strain relief clamp tightens around the power cord where it enters into the appliance and it restricts the cord from moving. This is required to be present and is often overlooked by appliance installers, even though manufacturers specify that its absence is an explicit fire hazard. Without it the cord can fray—exposing the electrical cables—or pull on the electrical connections within the dryer—creating the grounds for an electrical fire.
HVAC Filtration
There are a few building blocks in HVAC—fundamental items that you need to get right. One of those is filtration. It can get complicated, but at the end of the day you need good filtration for two reasons: 1) to protect the HVAC system from debris 2) provide quality air to the occupants of the space.
Some information for you to consider:
- A thick filter is better for your HVAC system than a thin one.
- A higher MERV rating will filter out more particulate, but it will also put more stress on your HVAC equipment.
- Healthy air tends to start at MERV 11. Although HEPA equates to MERV 17, this is not a realistic goal without significant consultation with your high-performance HVAC contractor.
- Homes usually cycle their entire indoor air through their HVAC system multiple times an hour. You don’t have to filter out everything the first time since you get so many attempts to achieve clean air.
- Filter bypass is terrible and you want to make sure that your filter is installed in such a way as to limit this as much as possible.
- Leaky ductwork can “negate” good filters: it’s common for ducts to leak and pull in attic or crawlspace air, which is especially bad if it happens after your filter.

Filter Cabinets
- You either filter your air at the return grille or in the middle of the ductwork, typically near the indoor air handler or furnace. If you filter your air at the return grille, then it’s a no-brainer to use our cost effective filters that have a foam gasket, called “filter grille” filters found here. However, if your filter is in the middle of your ductwork and it doesn’t have a professional cabinet like you see in these pictures, then you probably have poor filtration.
- We install inline filter cabinets that allow for healthier HVAC systems and healthy air quality. They are versatile products with easy filter replacements—and the filters last 6-12 months (but we recommend replacing them every 3-6 months to ensure optimal performance).
Air Duct Terminals

Supply Registers
- Technically the difference between a register and a grille is that a register has an adjustable damper in it. One of the easier improvements to accomplish for your HVAC system is to replace the registers in your home to allow for more efficient airflow.
- Most people don’t know that homes are built with an imaginary two foot space off the walls and below the ceiling, called the mixing zone. The air from the registers is meant to push as far and wide into this mixing zone as possible in order to engage the air from the remainder of the room.
- Unfortunately, standard registers don’t do this well and throttle back airflow. We replace these with more effective ones that are simply unavailable through big box stores.
Return Grilles
- Similar to registers, we replace the return grilles with more efficient options. Pairing a new filter grille with one of our “filter grille” filters creates a very attractive and effective solution. We even install extra return grilles in homes to balance pressure and lessen temperature imbalances, but it all starts with a well-designed return grilles.
EZ Trap Condensate Drain
As strange as it sounds, the condensate drain can become a major drain to your pocketbook. The reason for this is that the sludge and grime can back up and create the environment for microbial growth to run wild through the HVAC system. If this happens, we put on our Ventilation System Mold Remediator (VSMR) cap and the scope and difficulty of the job just increased dramatically.
One step you can take—in addition to having us regularly maintain the hygiene of your HVAC unit—is to install a new condensate trap to reduce the risk in the first place.
